چکیده

Hemicellulosic biomass from olive-tree pruning (OTPB) was used as a raw material in order to produce hemicellulosic hydrolysate be fermented with the non-traditional yeast Candida guilliermondii FTI 20037 obtain ethanol and xylitol. The main objectives of this research were study most relevant kinetic parameters involved bioconversion process correlation between stirred-tank bioreactor agitated Erlenmeyer flask fermentation. In first scale-up (using flasks) incubated on rotary shaker at 200 rpm, fermentation assays performed determine convenient conditions adaptation microorganism concentrated OTPB added nutrients culture medium. best (2.5 kg m−3 initial cells, pH 5.5 30 °C) set bench bioreactor. Evaluation of sorghum straw hemicellulosic hydrolysate for biotechnological production of xylitol by Candida guilliermondii

Zearalenone, a mycotoxin produced by fungi of the genus Fusarium, including F. graminearum, triggers reproduction disorders in certain animals and hyperestrogen syndromes in humans. Current research investigates three concentrations of neem oil extract (0.1, 0.25 and 0.5%) in reducing the production of zearalenone. Neem oil extract decreased zearalenone amount in the three concentrations but hi...

Sugarcane straw as a feedstock for xylitol production by Candida guilliermondii FTI 20037.

Sugarcane straw has become an available lignocellulosic biomass since the progressive introduction of the non-burning harvest in Brazil. Besides keeping this biomass in the field, it can be used as a feedstock in thermochemical or biochemical conversion processes. This makes feasible its incorporation in a biorefinery, whose economic profitability could be supported by integrated production of ...

Upstream parameters affecting the cell growth and xylitol production by Candida guilliermondii FTI 20037.

The effects of yeast extract (0-10 g/l), methanol (0-10% v/v), acetic acid (0-1.0 g/l), furfural (0-0.5 g/l), glucose (0-30 g/l), inoculum age (15-70 h) and product concentration (18-230 g/l) on the xylose-xylitol conversion by Candida guilliermondii FTI 20037 were studied. The xylitol specific productivity increased about 35% at a yeast extract concentration of 1.0 g/l, whereas glucose showed ...

Xylitol Production from Corn Cobs Hemicellulosic Hydrolysate by Candida tropicalis Immobilized Cells in Hydrogel Copolymer Carrier

The ability of five yeast strains (locally isolated) to ferment xylose to xylitol were screened using a corn cobs hydrolysate. Candida tropicalis proved to be the best producer. The effects of culture conditions, namely initial pH, nitrogen source and yeast extract concentration on xylitol production were evaluated. The conditions for batch production of xylitol, using C. tropicalis immobilized...

New cultive medium for bioconversion of C5 fraction from sugarcane bagasse using rice bran extract

The use of hemicellulosic hydrolysates in bioprocesses requires supplementation as to ensure the best fermentative performance of microorganisms. However, in light of conflicting data in the literature, it is necessary to establish an inexpensive and applicable medium for the development of bioprocesses. This paper evaluates the fermentative performance of Scheffersomyces (Pichia) stipitis and ...
